Decarbonization: The Science Based Targets Initiative validates Kardham's 2030 targets
May 2026
In light of the climate emergency, the Kardham Group has announced that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated its targets for reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030, deeming them to be in line with its Near-Term V5.3 guidelines and the Paris Agreement on climate change.
The SBTi’s Near-Term V5.3 guidance document sets out emission reduction pathways consistent with the goal of limiting global warming set out in the Paris Agreement. Official validation took place on 23rd April 2026.
Kardham commits to reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 64.0% by 2030 from a 2022 base year. Kardham also commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions 51.6% per EUR value added within the same timeframe.
Scopes 1 and 2 correspond to emissions linked to the Group’s activities and energy consumption, whilst Scope 3 covers indirect emissions, particularly those linked to its procurement, partners and services.
A structured decarbonization pathway at Group level
To achieve its objectives, the Group is implementing an action plan involving all its business units and partners.
For Scopes 1 and 2, Kardham is continuing to reduce its consumption of fossil fuels, through the gradual electrification of its vehicle fleet. Measures to optimize electricity consumption are also being rolled out across all its operations.
For Scope 3, Kardham is committed to engaging its suppliers and subcontractors to reduce the carbon intensity of the materials and services purchased. The Group is also striving to systematize eco-design across all projects, through a ‘just-enough’ approach, low-carbon specifications and improved recycling of construction waste.
The Group is also acting on emissions linked to the operation of the workspaces it designs and builds, notably through the deployment of more efficient air-conditioning systems and energy-efficient technical equipment.
A stronger commitment to sector-specific initiatives
The Kardham Group is also involved in sector-wide initiatives focused on decarbonization, with a view to incorporating best practices within the sector and offering innovative solutions to its clients.
Since 2022, Kardham has been an active member of the “Hub des Prescripteurs Bas Carbone”(Low-Carbon Specifiers Hub), the leading French organization for promoting low-carbon practices in the construction sector. In 2023, the Group also joined the BBCA association, which launched the eponymous label and is a pioneer in building decarbonization initiatives. Finally, since 2026, Kardham has been a member of Cyneo, a leading French player in the field of re-use in the construction sector.
“We are proud that our decarbonization targets have been validated by the SBTi; these targets are part of the proactive CSR policy that Kardham has been pursuing for several years. These targets serve as a guiding light, steering our decarbonization strategy across our French and international subsidiaries. We reaffirm our teams’ strong commitment to developing innovative solutions to decarbonize and make the projects entrusted to us by our clients more resilient.“

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a corporate climate action organization thatenables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating theclimate crisis.
We develop standards, tools and guidance which allow companies to set greenhouse gas(GHG) emissions reductions targets in line with what is needed to keep global heating belowcatastrophic levels and reach net-zero by 2050 at latest.
The SBTi is incorporated as a charity, with a subsidiary which will host our target validationservices. Our partners are CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the We Mean BusinessCoalition, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
