The axiality of the large gallery

Architecture

The construction project of this 22nd Collège du Gers, in configuration for 450 students at the beginning of 2018 (up to 600 students in the long term), responds to the desire of the project management to obtain a «Light Tech» building to meet the RT 2012.

No corridor architecture, but functional and evolving: based on the organization of functions, on either side of a large open axial gallery, the building is installed from the main entrance in the topography of the sloping ground sweet.

Distributive space for all functions, the gallery is the heart of the project, the backbone on which all functions open, the large “public” space for meeting light, sharing, a place of learning of all socialities.

It is also the space for transparency on collective activities.

The architecture also bears witness to the territory through the use of materials such as locally sourced brick. Solid bricks or openwork as a sunshade, "moucharabieh" style, this garment helps to find a balance between heat input and fight against overheating.
